Surge GPS inaccurate

My Surge GPS is all over the place. Set it to track my KM's on my local Parkrun and I knew roughly where each km point was but surge was stating quite a bit further on. The run is 3.5 laps and as you can see there is big discrepancy on the laps and also out by about 250 metres.

Below this is another runners map taken from their Strava account which is far more accurate. Not good if you like to track each km.Screenshot_2016-10-15-14-15-34.pngScreenshot_2016-10-15-15-03-38.png

Hi there @Jampton, welcome aboard to our Community and thank you for sharing screenshots of your exercise.

The actual accuracy of the GPS depends on both your environment and the weather. So keep in the environment you are in, can affect the signal strength of GPS. For example, if you are running in an urban environment with many tall buildings or threes, it may take your Surge tracker several seconds to get a fix.

Also make sure your tracker fix your location before you start your exercise. If this is the case, while your Surge continues to look for the GPS signal it will use your step count to calculate distance. In this scenario you can expect that your distance calculated for the workout will be slightly less accurate than if GPS data was available for the duration.

Hope this tips helps and if the issue persist let me know.

I arrived at the parkrun about 10 minutes prior to race and got the GPS fix then so that wasn't the issue. The weather was fair so again not the issue. Lots of other runners on strava on that day had no issues with their GPS as an example of the map I posted. Disappointed really as now don't know how accurate any of my runs are. Reason I bought it in first place!!

@Jampton, keep in mind, the smaller the laps or circles you run, the greater the liklihood of error, regardless of which GPS tracker you use.
