I went for a run today and logged my usual 3+ mile run using the "free run" option on the surge. Because the run did not upload to Strava (my usual way of viewing my effort), I started looking into it. On the dashboard both on the computer and my ios phone, I just get a basic figure showing time in heart rate zones, hard rate, calories burned, and impact on day. On other runs I always get a map of the effort and splits in addition to the basics. The only difference from my normal routine was that I used the "quick start" feature, which I haven't used in months. When I have used that feature in the past, it still produced a map and gave me splits. The watch is ~1 month old, replaced under warranty due to a bubbling band issue. One other thing to note is the watch did a little freakout on Monday when I started my run. Within the first 50 meters of the run the screen started flashing and vibrating and went back to 0:00:00. I paused my run and did started it again and repeated the same issue. I ended my run and restarted it and it worked fine and produced the normal map results.

Hi @SunsetRunner! Nice to see that you're digging into the Forums, let me give you a warm welcome to our Community.
Thanks for all the info. I don't think that your Surge has issues starting the activity with "Quick Start" option, since as you mentioned it has worked before perfectly. I think that your Surge had a hard time connecting with the satellite, which explains why the activity wasn't transfer to Strava; please take a look of this information about what can affect GPS tracking. Restarting your Surge a couple of times is a good idea in case it is hardware issue though!
I hope you don't have the issue again, but if you do, I'll be around.
Good day!
