Surge GPS

Hi, I was cycling today and I've come home and looked at the map of my cycle. There appears to be parts of the route cut out where I am guessing the gps lost signal.

My question is, will the surge just join up the parts where gps had signal and average out the speed? Or does it just not register as part of my workout?
