This morning I'm returning it as the backlight is so dim. It's bloody awful to be honest and I have to focus on it for seconds before I can see the readings.
Surely Fitbit need to address this?

Hello @David8732 and welcome aboard to our community. By default the light of the Surge is not too bright since the intention is that has a matte contrast. But if you are not able to see anything or is too difficult try with a restart. I'm sure this will do the trick if your tracker is not working properly.
Hope this helps and keep me posted how it goes.

For some reason, Surge screen is easy to see outside, which is the most important thing. I love that it gives all the information I want on one screen, that it picks up GPS very quickly, and that it looks great.
