Surge charge cable

Anyone else have an issue with the **ahem** charger cable for the Surge, it's the most infuriating thing in the world EVER, it just wont stay in. If a butterfly flaps its wings on Mars, the cable falls out. I managed to get it to stay in for a few seconds by placing a brick either side of the cable, but my cat farted and out it came. My phone and tablet chargers keep pointing and laughing at the it, I'd not be surprised if it's topped itself before I get home.

I noticed that fitbit listened and made a better connector/clip for the Alta HR... but the individuals with a Surge are still dealing with cable/connector assembly that hardly could be considered as an example of fine engineering. My fitbit has to be positioned gently when the cable is connected. Don't move it too much or the connector will fall off. The pogo pins and contact pads do work fine, it's the clip on the metal part that is the culprit.

Hi @DavidT76Smiley Happy It's great to see you around! You're right about the charger design of the Fitbit Alta HR, as this is a recent model. Have you tried to use a different charger to test your Fitbit? If it's the charger the one that is not connecting properly, you might get a different one in our Fitbit Store. I can also request to our Customer Support team so they can reach you via email to get more information about your warranty options.

Keep me posted! Cat Happy

I've completely given up with my Surge/s, after two replacements, because the strap keeps breaking, guess what, the strap broke AGAIN. All I was offered was another Surge (no thanks), or a measly 30% off a new Fitbit model. I've lost all faith in Fitbit!

I had every Surge problem... you can buy straps on Amazon and they are easy to change, I got a great bright orange one. The charge cable problem is solved by cleaning the connector with alcohol before charging. I just wanted to keep my Surge running until the new watch came out... now I have the Ionic and so far it is great! I gifted my Surge to a tech savvy friend who does not mind the connector issue. I have been in Fitbit for a long time and wanted to stay here, so I am happy.

You don't need to discard it.  Fitbit will tell you that the strap isn't replaceable.  It is with a bit of care and you can buy replacements really cheaply.  I bought one on ebay.  It's not a genuine fitbit strap but does the job fine.  It even came with the tools I needed to fit it.

It's a slightly fiddly job but there are some excellent videos on youtube that will guide you through the process.
