Surge display isn't readable in daylight

My Surge 3 display is now so dim I cannot read it in dull daylight. In darkness the two rightmost digits of the time are visible but not the hours. Steps and heart rate etc are always invisible.

The Surge still records steps etc perfectly.

Any suggestions welcome as it is confusing me!

@WalkingScot do you mean your 3rd Surge or did you mean to say Charge3? There is only one version of the Surge, it was replaced by the Ionic. Surge is very easy to see outside. Charge3 isn't.
