Surge doesn't track sleep

Recently purchased and the biggest feature my mom w as noted to use is sleep tracker..it hasn't worked since purchase

My Fitbit Surge is about 5 years old and till a few days ago it was flawless. But now it won’t track my sleep and of course it won’t Sync either. 
Can anyone help me correct this problem???

@bgermain possibly, but you'd have to provide more detail. In fact, your second statement probably explains the first, as it may be tracking your sleep perfectly but if not syncing, how would you know?

@Lasimp perhaps better detail your experience so I or others may lend suggestions. If you have heart rate data properly recording, it should have no problem tracking your sleep.

@bgermain is this a question? if your battery is expired, it will no longer charge. Most Surge's I've opened have significantly expanded LiPos, fortunately, they're easily replaced with a new one.
