Surge vs Ianic

I'm very happy with my Surge but can't help but wonder about the Ionic. Apart from the pretty watch face, what does the Ionic do that I can't on my Surge? What can't I do on the Ionic that I can do on my Surge?

Apologies if this question has already been answered at another place in the forum.

Here are the differences I've noticed (Ionic over Surge):

  • The watch faces are more detailed and informative
  • Lot of more apps (I'll let others discuss this)
  • Better GPS accuracy with much greater granularity
  • Much improved altimeter (my Surge could be off by 500' or more on my daily run, the Ionic is typically off by 20')
  • Much longer battery life
  • Seemingly similar Heart Rate accuracy
  • More alerts and greater granularity (instead of every mile, can be set to a number of intervals)
  • The Ionic is more robust in that it has an aluminum case and replaceable bands
  • I find the Ionic more comfortable to wear and when I'm wearing a dress shirt, it fits under the cuff.

Here is the lone feature the Surge has which I miss on the Ionic:

  • Always on screen (in low-power back-lit mode)
