Surge won't sync

My Fitbit is brand-new took it out of the box yesterday got the app downloaded got it charged got everything Bluetooth together and it is still not syncing I can't change the time it's not calculating my steps and when I got up this morning it was still adding steps to what I walked yesterday it didn't recoup and start over for today so I'm forced to still use my phone to keep track
