The Surge feedback

My SECOND Fitbit Surge in 2.5 years has died! Talk about frustrating! My husband's Fitbit HR died after 14 months with him. We are talking about almost $500 down the freaking drain! One would think that a product that is so widely touted as being so fantastic would have a longer life span than 14 months. But, I'm thinking that the makers of this pathetic product is fully aware of its shortcomings because the warranty is only for one year! What really sucks is that I really liked the product - how it tracked my sleep and helped me to try to average 7 hours of sleep each night. I loved how it tracked my tennis, my biking, my elliptical, my boxing - all of my activities. But now, it's all for nothing because my second Fitbit is dead!

What's the point in getting another one if this time next year it too will die an untimely death? Not only that, but the band began to fall apart (as did my husband's and sister-in-law's Fitbit band).  If I wanted a 'wash and throw away' product, I sure as hell would not pay $350 dollars for it. When you pay that kind of money for something, one would think it last several years.  I have an HP Deskjet printer that I purchased for $100 and it's 5 years old! So what's up with this Fitbit junk?

I have had my surge for 3 years with no problems. It's still going strong. Has a minor nick on the band but nothing major. I take care of my device and it does not rub against anything. I do wear long sleeves but its soft material and doesn't rub against the device

Well, whoop de do for you! Your 3 years does not help me, my husband, or my sister-in-law! Secondly, you obviously did not read my post correctly.  My 2.5 years is for TWO Surges, not one! Plus, I took care of my Surge. I never subjected to water, or any type of harsh treatment. Find some other site to troll and shoot down someone else's valid comments.  Your singular success is of little consequence when all one has to do is read all of the other complaints/issues on this site!

Anne Marie, I share the same negative feeling about the surge. The battery in mine has never NEVER lasted me more than 10 hours!!! unbelievable. i have contacted customer service in several occasions and all they do is make me reset it... that doesn't fix it!! UGH.

Fitbit makes a step counter....that is all.  They have tried to spice it up with all this other functionality, but most likely it will not fully function as has been my experience, I'm on my 3rd replacement Surge in a years time.  And the company's response is a load of patronizing comments about how they appreciate my time and energy into giving them feedback but my only resolution is to spend more $$ on the purchase of another product at a discount, or they will send me another device that I currently have for my 4th replacement which I know will not be reliable.  I will never spend $$ on a Fitbit product again and I urge any consumer considering spending on anything other than the basic step counter to not do it.

Sorry to hear you had trouble but it's not all of the units that are affected.  I have had mine for three years and it has never given me a problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if the heart-rate monitor, the sleep tracking, and probably even the step count aren't scientifically precise but they provide a rough estimate and I find that useful.

I would tend to agree with you though that the warranty should be longer.  If I had an experience similar to yours I also would be disappointed.

Take care.
