Two Fitbits different readings.

I just got my fitbit surge. The first day it said I burned 5,000 calories when I was sedentary. That seems extreamly high for my weight and height. My wife also has a surge. We switched all her settings to match my settings so I could wear both and see if they get similar readings. I charged them both up at midnight and put them on at 2:30am. They had both been sitting on the counter and the new one said that 500~ calories had been burned while the other only had 100~ cals burned. If they were sitting charging and they have the same settings how can the calories burned be so different?

Hi, @BobBrown, did the Surge with the extra calories have any steps / activities recorded for that time period?

Calories burned when no activity is detected by the Fitbit (i.e. when charging or entirely stationary) are calculated using your profile settings and are independent of the device.  Have you checked your units on both accounts (i.e. lbs vs kg, ft vs m)?

Sense, Charge 5, Inspire 2; iOS and Android

Great to see you here @BobBrown, a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community! That sounds odd, when you changed the setting to match her profile with your profile information, they should show the same information as @Julia_G mentioned if you don't have any activity in both. Smiley Embarassed

Check the Dashboard in both and go the see the details for calories, as you can see in the picture attached, you have the timeline information and if you hoover the mouse on it, it will give you more details about it Smiley Wink

Let me know if you have questions about it! I'll be around. Heart
