Unable to get out of exercise or run mode on Fitbit Surge

My Surge used to work fine, but now i cannot reset or turn off when in exercise mode.  I work out or run and all seems to be fine but I have to reboot the watch completely to reset back to standard mode.   Obviously a general reset does not solve the problem.  Seems like the top right button no longer works.  And the watch is only six months old.   I had a great Garmin for years and never had any issues.  Is the HR monitor worth the tradeoff for a watch that is so poorly made?   Anyone else have this issue?

If it's a software problem then multiple restarts should address it (this doesn't always work first time so several tries are recommended):

If it's a hardware problem (which sounds likely) then you should still be within warranty (you can check at www.fitbit.com/returns ) in which case you can contact customer support via: http://help.fitbit.com/?l=en_US&cu=1&fs=ContactUs
