Hi I can get them from dashboard when setting up but when running just get a buzz from my surge with no audio. Using iPod tried with iPhone also. This has never worked since purchase October 2015 any sensible ideas welcome please

Welcome to the Community @Stevecozza! Voice cues are only available for Fitbit MobileRun feature. What you're setting in the Dashboard is called "Run Cues" which vibrates from every 0.8 Kilometers - 0.5 Miles to 10 Kilometers - 5.0 miles. Your Fitbit Surge won't make any noise as it's not designed for that.
