Good day everyone,
Basically I've been using my fitbit surge since february 2016. After updating the fitbit app on my phone, things pretty much got bad really quickly, it started with syncing to the phone becoming very erratic to not completely syncing at all now. (it indicates its looking) I also noticed my phones blue tooth is grey which it was not previously.
Furthermore, since I wanted to sync my data, I was using the cable connected directly to my pc with windows 10 which worked fine until recently when that too started not synching saying tracker not found. I looked at my device manager and saw my cable connection had an error of code 43. Rendering all syncing options not working. I have never been successful in getting the pc wireless dongle to work.
So after trying out many ways. (restarting phone, restarting surge, restarting computer, backing up phone) I have not been able to sync at all.
So the next step I did was to try to set up a new tracker but this is driving me insane as I cant even get the pin number to show.
Truthfully the fitbit surge was great to use but with the spate of problems I am facing, I am not so sure anymore.
I hope someone can help me anyway. I am almost close to burying this very expensive paper weight..

the cable is only to charge, not to sync.
on Windows 10, you can use else the dongle + Fitbit Connect, else the Windows 10 app if you have Bluetooth 4.0 low energy available on your PC.

Could not agree more -- I have lost track (no pun intended) of the number of times I get that irritating message 'An unknown error has occurred'! Looks like I wasted £170 ... AND it is giving me a skin rash! And yes ... I have restarted it and followed all the advice on line .... still that 'unknown error!'

yes exactly! now my surge just keeps switching off randomly.. Disappointed to say the least.. By the way I had the skin rash problem too but if you alternate between hands and use a soap free cleaner like cetaphil it stops or slows down the problem.

Thanks for the advice! I finally worked out that, if I switch my iPad off
... my computer syncs!
that's "normal"
the iPad keeps the Surge bluetooth signal, so the PC is not able to sync.
I have the same behaviour when my tablet bluetooth was on, and my Surge near my PC.
bluetooth conflict.
the same behaviour can occur if 2 Fitbit devices are nearly.

I'm in syncing hell with my Surge! Like you, I have tried multiple attempts to resolve this problem. My Surge is quickly becoming the bane of my existence. I'm ready to find another fitness tracker as FB doesn't seem to care or respond to our concerns. Will track to contact FB AGAIN to resolve this issue but I'm over it!

Goodness gracious...
So I received an email response back from fitbit BUT...
the solution they gave me was for notifications... which I had not even mentioned about at all..
