Welcome to our little Family @martyfo! Hope you're doing great. I'm guessing that you did those changes from a Computer in Fitbit.com Dashboard. Well, you have 2 views of the Dashboard, the computer view and the Fitbit App view. As @SteveH mentioned above you can synchronize your Fitbit Surge in the Fitbit App on your phone, by closing it and reopen it up. This will work in case that you have the option "All day Sync" enable in you Fitbit App.
If case that you don't have that option enable, you can force sync it by going to Fitbit App > Tap on Account > Surge > Sync Now.
