Welcome to our community @tracey3974. This is pretty odd my friend. If the issue persist on a daily basis I recommend a Restart. If this only happened once, you can remove this incorrect steps by logging a manual activity as "Driving".
1. Sign into your Dashboard and click the 'Log Activity' icon from the menu at the top of the screen.
2. Select the date or dates in question.
3. In the activity menu, type in "Automobile or light truck (not a semi) driving" and enter the time and duration of time that you were driving.
4. Click "Log Activity." You will see the steps, calories burned, and other data decrease for the time period specified.
Hope everything is working fine now, catch ya later.

Hi @tracey3974, sure I can help you with this and explain better the steps. The purpose of this activity suggested is to remove steps that you have not actually walked.
So in your case, you need to look into your step graphs and determine at what time your tracker read those 300 steps. Once you have in mind the time and the duration of these step. Go to the section of your account to log manual activities. The steps from my previous post are for the web based Dashboard. But if you are using the mobile app these is what you need to do:
Keep me posted if your tracker continues reading steps at night.
