This may be out there but i could not find it...
Do you need to have the heart rate monitor on for the sleep accuracy to work? I turned it of as i wasn't really using it and thought it may save battery life, and noticed the sleep tracking stopped. I didn't think this was a coincidence.
Thanks

Now that you mention it, I'm not really sure; that said, I have always assumed you need the HRM monitor on to correctly track sleep activity. I have severe sleep apnea (per my sleep study my breathing became blocked every 45 seconds or 75 times per hour), a condition which is controlled by using a CPAP machine, as a result, I use my Surge to assess how well I'm sleeping and the heart rate tracking is exceedingly helpful.

I do as well, but could never keep the machine on my face and that is one of the reason i got the surge. I guess i will turn it on and see what happens tonight and let you know if it comes back on. thanks

I've been using a CPAP since the fall of 2007 and have learned a few tricks of keeping the mask on my face. I've also noticed that as the seal ages, it leaks more; fortunately the seal is replaceable for about $50 so I buy 1-2 new seals per year.
