I have the same problem, is yours an Iphone with IOS 11.x?  Mine is (an Iphone 8).  It works only with my Windows PC using the dongle USB.

PS, I called Fitbit and they said they don't yet support the Iphone 8, which might mean they don't support IOS 11.x yet (does anyone know?).  Hopefully soon.
