Are Fitbit and Google Fit going to be the same?

I dug my Fitbit out of the drawer after two years and charged it up. I see statements that we will eventually have to have a google account to ..? make the Fitbit work? or use the app?

I am looking for a smart scale and see those that link to Google Fit. Is this what I should be thinking of? Is Fitbit and Google Fit the same thing now (or in 2025)?

I can't seem to find information on this except that we have to move everything from Fitbit to google by 2025.

Thank you. I have read that and other articles, but it just doesn't make things clear for me. It talks of google accounts and moving your "fitbit" to a google account, but I just don't get it. I assume fitbit is being bought or absorbed by Google and this is why we need to move to a google account. I have a google account and it is what I signed up with fitbit using years ago, but this isn't even what they mean, I read.
Clear as mud to me. lol

thx though. I appreciate your time.

@Mummymelly  it seems having a gmail account isn't the same as a Google account. It won't be necessary to switch until next year, which is when I'm going to do it myself. I'll see if a Fitbit Moderator can stop by to address your questions. They are good at explaining things for us.
