The number of steps that can be observed between the Fitbit and Google Fit differs since August 31st 2024, although Google Fit is configured to use the steps information coming from my Pixel Watch.
I am trying to report the issue at its simplest since both Fitbit and Google Fit belong to Google. But I am facing the exact same problem with 2 other 3rd parties integrated with Fitbit that I use to participate in some group activities: countit and movespring. For the whole month of August, I have been out of the average because of the situation I am trying to get Google`s attention.
Here are 2 screenshots, one from Fitbit and the other from Google Fit for a given day. The same difference is observed 90% of the days, and the same wrong number of steps as visible in Google Fit are also sent to other 3rd party applications that I have mentioned.
Google fit report 5,196 steps
Fitbit app report 11,123 steps
The first symptoms occurred on August 31st 2024 and were reported in the following link: https://status.fitbit.com/incidents/D6j3uhKPGKKsJjNoxsp7
Meanwhile, such a situation was resolved on September 19th, although I am still facing similar occurrences on my side.
If there is a way to have the attention of Google/Fitbit support on this so we could dig deeper based on my personal data, I would appreciate it.

I have continuously contacted movespring support and they have advised time and again that this is all on Google/Fitbit. I am beyond frustrated because I get points for my employment to keep my health insurance lower. We got this great app for everything to transfer seamlessly across all devices (some people had take screenshots of their steps and workouts every month and email them) and then Google ruined fit bit. I noticed yesterday that now, my workouts are no longer transferring into the movespring app. I have read one thread from September that says Google/Fitbit fixed the issue, but clearly it is still VERY much an issue and getting worse.
It's NOT as simple as just restarting the device. I did that and it caused a factory reset on my device, and then nothing would connect with my phone. I spent half an hour with someone from the IT department where I work having them help me get everything set back up correctly.
I actually really love my Versa 4, but this is all so frustrating that I'm about to get a completely different device. Clearly they can't get it together to fix the problem.

I feel your pain and your company use case is a very interesting one.
Basically, if you see the steps in the fitbit app then there is nothing else that needs to be done since the synchronization between fitbit(google) and movespring is transparent to us.
Since October 11th my steps started to appear properly on movespring and on countit.com sites. So that part of the problem has been resolved. I never found a fitbit/google ticket around that situation to justify why it is working now.
The situation between fitbit and google Fit is still problematic as the step count is not matching anymore.

I came here for help because I'm having the same issue and can not find a solution. The numbers on my watch are differing from the app. This is after syncing, turning off and on Bluetooth, uninstalling and reinstalling. This has been happening for almost 2 weeks now. Wondering what else can be done to resolve this issue. I did not opt to link my Google account and don't know if I want to go that route but am curious when the option to merge the data began if anyone knows...
