Duplicate entry on both Fitbit and mfp started few days back

Recently I noticed a problem between my Fitbit and myfitnesspal. Whenever I worked out, I will start the exercise time through my surge and when I open mfp,the workout will automatically sync. However few days back, I noticed that if I start tracking my workout (running for example) via my surge, whenever I sync surge and mfp, there will be duplicate entry.

On fitbit app, it will show my workout and the next entry below, it will register as aerobic (myfitnesspal) with the same duration, calories burnt and time logged. This will appear on both Fitbit and mfp app. I had to manually delete the duplicate entry every single time and it is really annoying because it the calories burnt from exercise shown in mfp will be double than what it should be

I have tried disconecting Fitbit from mfp and log out and connect again according to instructions and forums I read. Unfortunately it is still not working. I’m at wit’s end on this. Anyone had similar experience? All suggestions and solutions are needed

Hi there @Jaclynteoh, I was reading your concern about the duplicate entry between the integration of MFP and your Fitbit account. Certainly this is a odd behavior if you are not manually logging anything in your MFP account that could duplicate  your calories.

MFP has not the ability to track automatically exercise, since it will depend of your tracker for this and the information is received by your Fitbit account and then shared to your MFP.  So I'm wondering if you are using a third party integration beside MFP that is connected with your Fitbit too? This will explain why there is a loop of information returning the data to your Fitbit account and doubling up your calories.

Is this happening whit all your exercises or only with those that you tracked directly from your Surge?

Let me know these details and if is possible, feel free to share some screenshots to have a closer look.

See you around and let me know how it goes.

Hi @RobertoME,

This is an example of the duplicate entry I mentioned

Noticed that the starting time is the sameNoticed that the starting time is the same

I wrote to MFP as well and after investigating, Runkeeper seems to be the culprit. After unlinking Runkeeper, all is back to normal. Ironically, Runkeeper have been linked to MFP for as long as I can remember with no similar problem. This problem only started recently.

Hi there @Jaclynteoh, thank you for the screenshot and my apologies since I haven't post anything lately.

Is prone to this happened when there are in use different third party integrations connected with your Fitbit account. I'm glad to hear you were able to find the solution and thank you for keep me updated.
