Failing to link with MyFItnessPal

ANSWERED

I had my Fitbit connected with MyFitnessPal for a very long time but it stopped syncing. I read to disconnect and connect it again so I did that but when trying to connect it I get this error even tho I click 'allow all' on Fitbit permissions. I tried clicking each one of the permissions individually, tried on both my phone and computer but keeping getting the same error.

That message was a reply to Morphic. I said thank you because he said he reported it.

The amount of time I wasted this weekend clearing my cache on my phone and computer, uninstalling/reinstalling the apps, restarting my Fitbit, clicking the allow all and individually clicking each box, all because I thought this was a me problem...

Same problem here, really frustrating, I hope there's a fix soon!

I only bought mine today and have literally lost 4 hours of my life trying to set it up then found this thread 🤦🏼‍:female_sign:🤦🏼‍:female_sign:I guess I’ll stop trying now 😂 and hope it gets sorted soon!

I have this problem as well. The two apps stopped synching yesterday, so I attempted the trouble shooting fix - and now they will not connect at all; I get the same error message. Unbelievably annoying.  Has anyone had a response from either FitBit or MFP???

Same problem here, I've been trying for a few days now... it's very frustrating!! Just bought a new FitBit and really want to connect to MyFitnessPal!!

Also having this problem had it for years with no problems and recently I’ve been having to re sync both apps to get it to work now apps won’t sync at all! 😱

I have been having the same exact issue since the morning of 3/23. Un-installed and reinstalled both apps, followed all instructions, can't get the fitbit app to connect with myfitnesspal. I'm getting the same green bar saying to allow permissions.  No response from the companies.

Okay - just spoke to FitBit chat and they say it's a MyFitnessPal error ... \O/

Best Answer

Yeah seems a widespread issue, loads of online forums full of people reporting the same thing and getting zero response from myfitnesspal

click apply all, get an error saying you have to apply all - makes zero sense

I can only guess something has gone wrong with the interconnectivity between MFP and Fitbit

I have had this today from fitbit - not much help tbh!

Hi, I'm Valeria and here to help. If I understand correctly, you are having trouble syncing your Fitbit with MyFitnessPal. The syncing worked for three days but now it's stopped and you're unable to reconnect the two due to an error message. Is that correct?
Valeria · 3:49 PM
Yes the error message is ‘To connect your FitBit account please allow MyFitnessPal to access all FitBit data points.’ However I have selected sllow sll numerous times but it will not sync back up again. I have seen I am not the only user experiencing this per the forum community at fitbit and on reddit this week.
*allow all numerous times

I'm sorry to hear that

Let me check this for you.

Here is the thread where people have mentioned the issue this week via the fitbit community https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Third-Party-Integrations/Failing-to-link-with-MyFItnessPal/m-p/57361...

Thanks for the details.

after consulting this issue with my team they inform me that this problem is something that is occurring across the board between the Fitbit App and MyFitnessPa. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing, but at this time our team is doing everything possible to resolve this as soon as possible.
Valeria · 3:55 PM
do you know when a resolution will be provided as it seems quite wide spread

The team is working to resolve it as soon as possible, as soon as there is an update you will be notified
Valeria · 3:56 PM
How will I be notified?
3:57 PM
V
possibly through the Fitbit App the notification will arrive.
Valeria · 3:57 PM
is there no definite? I know alot of fitbit members are experiencing the same issue so it would be good to see something on the forum or definitively on the app.

we know and we know that this can be uncomfortable, for this reason we are investigating what is happening in order to notify and help our customers, again an apology because I know that this situation can be very stressful.
Valeria · 4:02 PM
Its more frustrating I think then uncomfortable - I think more acknowledgment of the issue would go a long way as people are taking time out their day to figure it out feeling as though they are going crazy and there is not one update from anyone at the team in FitBit and from knowledge MyFitnessPal cannot resolve the issue as it falls when taken to passing permissions page via FitBit url.
Might be worth one of the team acknowledging the issue on the forum community so people know its in hand at the very least

I'm sorry to hear that! our team is aware of this, but please keep in mind that this issue is happening today, so our team has to investigate and know where the problem is coming from in order to notify you, we cannot notify you about this issue when we are still investigating it because customers should have all the information.
Valeria · 4:06 PM
Ok - Hopefully this will be resolved and customers can be informed

Yes, of course! Thanks for understanding!

Definitely seems to be something broken between the two services.

I'm guessing fitbit changed something that broke integration between various apps. myfitnesspal maybe needs to implement a change for some field it's not sending over in the request.

It's been radio silent on the myfitnesspal side. Seeing tons of users reporting it in the forums they have also.

Thanks for this! I hope they fix it soon
