Fitbit One x RunKepper: Calories burned accuracy

Hi!

Today I went for a walk and used both Fitbit One and RunKeeper (on an Android device) and after I finished, I noticed that the calories burned values were very different from each other. RunKeeper showed 288 calories burned and Fitbit, 416. It's a huge difference. Has anyone used RunKeeper before and knows why it's so different from Fitbit and which one is more accurate?

Details: I walked for 54min, 5.38km, 10min/km.

Thanks.

Hi,

every fitness aplication have it own calculation of burned calories. Base values are gender, age, weight and height, so make sure that in both aplication have same. All stats which are included in runkeeper calculation you can find on their website - https://support.runkeeper.com/hc/en-us/articles/201109676-How-are-Calories-Burned-calculated- may depends on elevation.

Fitbit calculation you can find here http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-does-Fitbit-know-how-many-calories-I-ve-burne...

Both values are just estimate and you can't say conclusively which is more accurate. But RunKeeper have more accurate speed and distance data... I recently wrote acrticle how you can make better calories caculation with heart monitor in Endomondo - https://medium.com/@fitdatafreak/calories-counting-in-endomondo-and-other-fitness-apps-5014b2d74c5b
