Fitbit talks great to MFP. However MFP started syncing exercise back to Fitbit in essence double counting exercise. How do you have just Fitbit be the official tracker but show the calories earned on MFP?

That is interesting lol. It shouldnt be doing that. I would remove fitbit from myfitnesspal. Once the connection is broken (it took a while when I did it - like a couple of days) then re add fitbit to mfp. That seemed to fix the bug I was having between them (which was different to yours, but worth a go)
