Fitbit and My Fitness Pal not syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since Sunday my Fitbit and My Fitness Pal app stopped syncing?

My Fitness Pal no longer shows my steps and calorie burn and Fitbit no longer shows my water and calorie intake.

I've disconnected them and logged out, then logged in and reconnected them.

Switched off phone and switched back on

I've even deleted both apps and reinstalled them, but they are just not syncing.

How do I get them to sync?

Thanks for taking a break from stepping to visit the community @Junebird! That definitely sounds odd after the right troubleshooting you performed beforehand. Take a look at this post by @AndrewFitbit with more info about linking MyFitnessPal to your Fitbit account.

I also suggest trying to re-link the two accounts again by doing the following:

1. Sign into your Fitbit dashboard.
2. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
3. On the left side of your screen click "Applications."
4. Under MyFitnessPal, click "Revoke Access."
5. You can then re-link the two accounts by going to http://www.fitbit.com/apps/myfitnesspal.

After relinking, you can verify that your accounts are syncing by using one of the following data points:

1. On Fitbit you can check for your meal summary and logged activities from MFP.
2. On MyFitnessPal, go to "My Home," then "Check-In." You should see your weight, Fitbit Steps, and Fitbit Sleep Minutes.

I hope this gets you back on track. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy Smiley Wink

I too am having this issue.  I have done everything listed in article.  Nothing has worked.

I had the same thing happen. I hadn't been checking all the boxes to allow MFP to see ALL my information. Once I allowed MFP to have all information the sync started working again. Not sure though what I think of MFP having a bunch of info on me it doesn't need though. Might go back to just logging on Fitbit because of that.

@eturtlet thanks for getting back to me and let us know what worked for you! Hey just out of curiosity, did you allow MFP to have all info synced from your MFP account or through your Fitbit account? Do let us know!

@ashleelh & @calmatin thanks for stopping by! Have you guys checked from your MFP accounts that everything is checked to allow info to be synced to Fitbit? Give it a try and let me know how it goes! Smiley Wink

I did let MFP have all the information for a few days but decided they were asking for too much personal information that had nothing to do w/ their web site. I decided to start logging again on Fitbit and unlinked the Fitbit and MFP accounts.

This is what I did too.  I wish fitbit had some better food logging tools (import recipes, copy meal from day to day, a better food database (often upc scans dont work but I can search and find a food I was trying to scan), tracking of net carbs and micro nutrients, etc) but at least I don't have to worry about MFP's constant syncing issues.

I'm thinking about doing to same. Unlinking the two all together. It is still not working after multiple tries of disconnecting and reconnecting the two.

It was on the MFP side. When you add the Fitbit app it shows a list of things you can sync. Food, weight, water, profile, sleep and one or two more. I only wanted to share food, water and weight but I had to pick all the options to get the sync to work.

I went on MFP (website), disconnected FitBit and simply reconnected, making sure all the sharing options were selected, and voila! fixed!

until the next time it happens.....  I am done with MFP because of the frequent issues like this and the other random issue where edited meals (which I do often) get added twice to fitbit as the originally entered meal summary and the edited version.

Help! When I replaced a Samsung phone to  iPhone, it would not re-connect correctly and lost all of my data on My Fitness Pal, and my steps from Fitbit would not show. So, I figure I would delete the My fitness Pal account and re-connect to My fitness Pal. My problem is, My fitness pal is telling me that I am connected already to fitness pal and I cannot connect more than one account. I tried what you said to do, but did not work.

@treetz197 thanks for sharing what worked for you! I'm sure this will definitely help other users who are also experiencing this. Way to go! Smiley Happy

@Fozzy71 please make sure that you're only entering your meals once, either on MFP or Fitbit. This is to prevent any duplicate.

@coktree thanks for stopping by! I'd suggest revoking access to MFP by going to your Applications' settings. After revoking access, follow these steps to re link your account again:

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

@MariamV you misunderstand what I was saying.  I would enter a meal I plan to eat into MFP to see how it would affect my macros, then after making it I would edit it in MFP for the actual weights of the items.  Then when I look in fitbit I would sometimes have two entries: the original and the edited meal summary.  too many problems with fitbit and mfp sync for me so now I just use fitbit which kinda sucks for tracking food IMO.  I just noticed today that the kroger eggs I scanned in with the fitbit app (and it surprisingly had a record for) had bad nutritional info, unless they are some super special eggs that have 0 grams of protein lol.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the apps is just a temporary fix. Log food again on MFP and it's broken again.

No problem! And it is STILL working for me. I only log meals in MFP and when I jump back to my Fitbit dashboard, if I notice the food hasn't pushed over, I simply click on that particular tile in my Fitbit dashboard and it's good to go, but I rarely need to do that.

@Fozzy71 thanks for the clarification and I apologize for the confusion here. Cat Embarassed Cat Happy That sounds quite odd. Could you please post me some screenshots of the doubled entries in the Fitbit Dashboard so that I can pass this along and investigate further?

I was doing my own research as well and scanned large Kroger eggs using my Fitbit app for iOS and this is the Nutritional info I got:

kroger eggs app.png

And then I used my Dashboard to manually log the Kroger eggs and this is the result:

Kroger eggs.png

Since they are different, it would sound like Kroger doesn't have correct nutritional info since I got no values when using the scan. I'd say manually logging this item could be an option. Smiley Wink

@Francl27 thanks for troubleshooting this issue with me. Just out of curiosity, have you tried contacting MFP? It's worth the shot! Smiley Happy Keep me posted with the outcome!

@treetz197 thanks for sharing what worked for you! This is definitely a great input. I'm sure this will help many other users who are also experiencing the same issue. Keep it up!

Catch you later guys!
