From early January 2025 Fitbit no longer synchronizes with Strava. All recommended steps have been taken to reset the connection but these have all failed to rectify the issue.
I use a Fitbit Versa 4 with the Fitbit app on an Apple iPhone 13. These synchronize fine. Activities on Fitbit (with GPS) do NOT synchronize with Strava.
This issue has been raised with both Fitbit and Strava and both have blamed each other.
For reference: Actvities logged directly on Strava also do NOT synchronize with Fitbit.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and if so has anyone resolved this? If not, what is the escalation process within Fitbit as it seems that this device isn’t fit for purpose?
After a number of emails with Fitbit Support I have now spoken to them directly. They went through all their documented processes to revoke access to Strava and how to reset everything, followed by allowing me to test a walk with GPS. The data still failed to appear on Strava.
Fitbit recommend I raise this (again) with Strava but their view is that it’s a Fitbit issue. If Strava still believe it’s a Fitbit issue then Fitbit Support have agreed to escalate the problem.
Any further updates I receive I’ll add to this thread.
I've also had this problem since the start of the year and have tried reconnecting a few times, but no success. So sounds like it's a wider problem.
In the mean time, FYI to anyone frustrated by this (like me!), it's fairly simple to export a Fitbit activity and upload it to Strava manually: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918087-Fitbit-and-Strava
Following further discussions with Fitbit they have agreed that there is an issue for some users. I’ve asked a few questions about who it affects, the timescale for a fix, and the process for implementing the fix. Their responses are as follows. Hopefully it won’t be too long…
1. This is an issue that might be affecting different users.
2. It could take some weeks while we release a new update.
3. It would be with a new Fitbit app update.
4. We do not have a way to send you a notification when it's released, kindly keep looking for updates on the App store.
My Fitbit activity this morning auto synced to Strava, so hopefully the issue is fixed now 👍
I'm suffering the same issue - no syncing of Fitbit recorded activities to Strava since January. Fitbit activities are syncing to other apps (eg Runkeeper) though, so the issue appears to be specific to the link between Fitbit and Strava? I've been manually exporting activities from Fitbit then importing them to Strava via the Strava webpage, but that's a bit of a pain 🙄
Another Strava user experiencing the same problem has determined that creating a new Fitbit account will sync to Strava so that suggests the issue is with existing Fitbit/Google accounts? See here for their info on the Strava help community: https://communityhub.strava.com/strava-features-chat-5/sync-to-fitbit-broken-8645?postid=38251#post3...
Have you tried doing this? This seems like such a simple feature and Fitbit needs to roll out an update. I would hate to create a new account and lose all my settings etc. Thanks for keeping tabs on this!
No - I haven't tried it because I have Fitbit premium as part of a Google One subscription so don't want to create a new account...
Exactly the reason I prefer not to as well.
Wow, this is sub-par application support. My last synchronized workout was dated March 11. Every time I disconnect the apps and try to reconnect them at strava.fitbit.com, the request fails with this response:
{"statusCode":500,"error":"Internal Server Error","message":"An internal server error occurred"}Does Google regression-test anything these days? Recently all my run laps are giving km distances with mi units. Wish I could maintain a 5:30 pace mile after mile after mile!
Best AnswerI wouldn’t be so anxious to sync with Strava but for the fact that for months now the iPhone Fitbit app won’t show workout duration with precision down to the second.
Best AnswerNo luck on my end. Heading on another run right now that I’ll have to upload as tcx file. 😕
At this point I might just go back to my polar watch for tacking runs. Upload a file that requires hopping on my desktop computer or put on a other watch.
Battery life is million times better and the features on a pixel watch 3 don't seem to matter if I have my phone with me. Even without my phone the polar watch has the same benefit as a smartwatch with our a phone.
Thanks for the reply. Don't mind my rant.
