It's been an issue for a very very long time. It is probably related to the fact that you can't export a TCX file for such activity either (hence, there is nothing to upload to Strava). I stopped believing that Fitbit will ever fix it.

When you say interval, is your tracker on the Run or Bike mode? It is only these two modes, with GPS enabled, that will get sent to Strava.

The interval mode is not suppose to be sent to Strava.

What is there to fix.

You may want to make a suggestion to add the ability to send interval workouts to Strava.

I've also moved this Strava post to the Third party sync board.

As a possible workaround. You may want to try http://www.fittostrava.com/

@Rich_Laue again you misunderstanding the problem (probably, another feature you're not using). According to the Fitbit help page: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1742.htm

Your Fitbit activities will appear on Strava, and runs and rides tracked with Strava will contribute to your all-day Fitbit stats. If you have a Fitbit watch, use the Strava app on your watch to see your last 10 run or bike exercises. If you want to export your GPS data from your Fitbit account to Strava, see How do I export my Fitbit account data?

Note the following types of activities won't sync to Strava:

  • Non-GPS activities
  • Previous activities that weren’t tracked by Strava.
  • Duplicate activities—that is, if you already recorded an activity with Strava, a Fitbit activity that occurs at the same time won't sync.

Even if Interval Workout won't sync automatically, the guide says you can download the activity file (TCX) and upload it manually to Strava. Unfortunately, it is broken. You can't export the GPS-enabled Interval Workout. It's been broken for a very long time and the banner informing that Fitbit knows about it and "looking into it" has been hanging there like forever (have you tried to use it?). Fitbit may not be syncing anything else but Bike and Run, however, if that feature wasn't broken, users could in fact upload IW with GPS manually. Right now, they can't.
