Hi,
First off, I'm using Fitbit + MFP + Runkeeper at the moment. My main goal is weight loss.
I currently take long walks daily, but I'm not sure what I should do to only count the calories from my walks once, while still counting the steps I took.
So my goal (including my walks) is to go above 10,000 steps - so I need fitbit to track that.
I also want to track my walks (GPS tracking) so I need Runkeeper.
My health (food etc) is tracked in MFP - been using this for years, not prepared to switch over.
Do you have any idea whether MFP and Fitbit count my calories from walks twice since I use runkeeper and track the activity in fitbit at the moment.
Thanks 🙂
Best AnswerI've made some quick calculations and it seems like Fitbit is not counting the calories twice - if this is so, then I should not need to change anything, right?
I just need to log my walks using Runkeeper and make sure to press the track activity button on my Charge every time I do so.
Best AnswerYOu can always sync your walks from Runkeeper through MFP to Fitbit. This will give you a MFP activity in Fitbit with a time of even minutes. We used to be able to edit those activities to fix the time and add the distance but that option was removed a couple of months ago. So, depending on what your end goal is, syncing activities from Runkeeper may be sufficient. I do this and don't track any activities with my Force. Runkeeper is my authoritative source of run data.
Best AnswerThanks first of all 🙂
OK, so should I remove my Runkeeper <-> Fitbit sync?
It looks as if it's got the calories right though, I just get the activities twice on my fitbit dashboard, but I don't really use that bit of it (as you said, Runkeeper is my main reference point for exercise too).
Best AnswerI use MFP as the gatekeeper and food logging tool. MFP syncs to Runkeeper and MFP syncs to Fitbit. I do not have Runkeeper syncing directly with Fitbit since it tends to confuse things as you suggested.
