Simple way to sync garmin cycle computer rides to fitbit

Hello everyone,

I have done some reading on previous threads about this topic but everything seems so coviluded and back door ish. Im hoping that there is a simple way to make this happen.

I have a garmin 501 on my bicycle and I just got a fitbit surge. I ride my bicycle to and from work every day and would prefer to use my garmin on the bike to record my rides to conserve battery life on my surge by not using the GPS.

It would be great if I could use the HR info from the fitbit, but it's not nessecary.... Is there a simple way to sync the Garmin rides to my fitbit app?

Easy? Probably not. The Fitbit 3rd party interface does allow activities to be created, and some partners might support that (I can't remember which). However as far as I know, Garmin doesn't directly support Fitbit. And any 3rd party can only manual generate an activity with:

- name

- start time and date

- duration

- distance

- calories

Fitbit does not support 3rd parties creating activities with GPS or heart rate.

And unlike some of the Garmin multi-sport devices (Forerunner, Fenix, VivoactiveHR), Fitbit does not support broadcasting your HR to gym equipment, bike computers, etc. Therefore its not possible with Fitbit to have you HR show up at the gym or on your bike computer.

There is a fairly easy way, it requires uploading your ride from Garmin Connect to Endomondo (one-time setup), and then setting up Endomondo-to-Fitbit (one-time setup).
