Fitbit Update 11/03/15 02:13 PM: Everyone -- The Strava and Fitbit integration issues have been resolved. I am closing this thread from further discussion for organizational purposes.

If you're still experiencing issues, I recommend revoking access to the integration and reconnecting by following the steps outlined here.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to report this issue and for your patience while we worked to get it resolved in a timely manner! Now it's time to get out and ride! Robot Very Happy

Fitbit Update 10/21/2015 3:54 PM:If you're continuing to experience syncing issues between Fitbit and Strava, please check out Strava's response and follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Have you tried reconnecting your accounts, syncing your Fitbit tracker, and waiting an hour?
  2. Have you confirmed that you are not recording a duplicate exercise in the Strava app and Fitbit app/device simultaneously?
  3. Have you confirmed that you are recording a GPS exercise with your Fitbit? (Only exercises with GPS on Fitbit will be sent to Strava).
  4. Have you confirmed that you recorded a new exercise after connecting you accounts? (Previous exercises won’t be uploaded. You can use the TCX export from Fitbit to upload older exercises manually).

If you've made sure of all of the above and your activities are still not syncing between Fitbit and Strava, please fill out this form to send your Strava athlete ID to us so Fitbit can continue to investigate.

Fitbit Update 10/19/2015 3:18 PM: I've been in contact with our API Team and they are still looking into the issues everyone here has reported! I appreciate all the feedback!

I apologize for the delay in getting this issue resolved but can confirm that we are actively working on getting everyone back on track! Thank you for your continued patience! Robot Happy

Fitbit Update 10/16/2015 3:59 PM: Please check out what syncs between Fitbit and Strava and some troubleshooting tips that should help get you back on track:

What is synced to Strava from Fitbit:

  • Exercises with GPS data recorded with Fitbit will be sent to Strava (Heart rate data will be included when it's available).
  • Exercises recorded with Fitbit's app or devices that do not include GPS data are NOT currently sent to Strava

What is synced to Fitbit from Strava:

    • Exercises recorded in Strava will be synced to Fitbit as manually logged activities, but will NOT include GPS or heart rate data from Strava

If you are still unable to sync your data between Fitbit and Strava or vice versa, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Log in to your Fitbit dashboard
  2. Click the gear icon on the top right corner
  3. Click "Settings"
  4. Click "Applications" on the left side
  5. Click "Revoke Access" under the "Fitbit + Strava" app
  6. Go to https://strava.fitbit.com/ and click "Connect" and follow the rest of the prompts to finish reconnecting your Fitbit and Strava accounts

Fitbit Update 10/16/2015: Hey all, we're continuing to monitor this issue! It doesn't seem as it is resolved for all users yet, some have reported that after a delay it work but it shouldn't take forever. Rest assured that the API team is still working on it! You can expect an update from me early next week, hopefully with some good news.

Fitbit Update 10/14/2015: Hey everyone -- our team has been looking into the issue with syncing your Strava data over to Fitbit. To pass along information to the engineers working on this issue, are you still experiencing issues with syncing and connecting Strava to your Fitbit account? If so, please try to unlink Strava with your Fitbit and relink it again before replying. Looking forward to your responses! Thank you!

Fitbit Update 10/06/2015: We've received reports that users are unable to set up or sync between their Fitbit and Strava accounts. I have forwarded your information to our Product Specialist Team who is currently looking into this issue. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue ASAP.

Today's run posted to Fitbit just after it appeared on Strava! 🙂 Given other comments, I'll give it a bit longer before I manually enter my runs between Oct. 4 and yesterday.

I see today my bike rides have appeared in my Fitbit for the last 5 days, good progress, but it does not show the map as before, just shows calories and impact. Atleast this is a start to get things back to where they were.

How long is it taking to sync across to Fitbit for you guys? My ride from an hour ago still hasnt shown up. I know that's not that long, but before all this mess, it usually took 5 mins max.

My two rides (commutes) yesterday synced from Strava to Fitbit, but nothing yet from Oct 5 until then.

Hopefully today's rides will sync fine as well.

My run today recorded with Strava successfully synced to Fitbit for the first time since October 4.  I had runs on Monday (10/26) and Saturday (10/24) that also synced at the same time as this morning's run. However, I had manually entered those runs into Fitbit, so there were duplicates to delete.  None of my other runs between 10/4 and 10/24 synced.

One error with the sync'd entries from 10/24 and 10/26 is the fitbit surge HR data doesn't correspond to the runs.

I am in a different timezone today than I was during the 10/24 & 10/26 run (-8:00), so that may be a contributing factor to the HR data not matching up.

I have manually created a RIDE in Strava and it came over to Fitbit (Dashbord - Recent Excercise) in about an hour.

My last ride on Sunday Oct 25th 9:49AM did not come over.

Therefore it might look like the dividing line of what gets updated and what needs to be manually updated is around that time.  Not sure if this is a sliding scale of what to bring over (like last X days).

thanks!

@LeeRagsdale @JulesRunner@Damatu75Thank you for the update, happy to hear that your exercises and rides have begun to sync over! Robot Very Happy

@ke3256What is synced to Strava from Fitbit:

  • Exercises with GPS data recorded with Fitbit will be sent to Strava (Heart rate data will be included when it's available).
  • Exercises recorded with Fitbit's app or devices that do not include GPS data are NOT currently sent to Strava

@jacknorell@goterps@MikeBikeler@sjones1360Thank you for the update! I recommend revoking access and reconnecting the Strava integration from within your "Applications setting" in your online Dashboard.

@ErickFitbit have disconnected via the dashboard and reconnected.

Hopefully some older rides will sync, if not it's not a big deal now that future rides will.

@ErickFitbit Thanks for the clarification, but before this problem started at the begining of October I was getting GPS data from Strava to Fitbit.

The problem I have is the the FitBit GPS does not record accurately on my routes compared to the Strava.

Does this mean that the GPS data will not come acrros from Strava or is some of the developers still looking at the problem?

would love eventually to use Strava for recording my rides and runs (as said above the GPS feels more accurate and am used to sector times etc from Strava) and get the heart rate Data provided by the HR to Strava.

At the moment am getting the HR showing on Fitbit after the activity Sync's with HR data but no GPS and on Strava have the GPS/ speed segments etc with no HR...

@ke3256If using the MobileRun feature within the Fitbit App for Android, I recommend confirming that you're on the latest version, version 2.13. The MobileRun GPS accuracy issues have since been resolved.

Exercises recorded in Strava will be synced to Fitbit as manually logged activities, but will NOT include GPS or heart rate data from Strava.

@jacknorellKeep me updated on whether the older rides sync. I don't expect older data to sync over but I do expect that new rides should begin to sync over.

@MikeBikelerDo you see any improvement to your syncing as @jacknorelldid?

@JonR43Exercises with GPS data recorded with Fitbit will be sent to Strava (Heart rate data will be included when it's available). Exercises recorded with Fitbit's app or devices that do not include GPS data are NOT currently sent to Strava.

So, older data will not sync over now?

New to Fitbit, not so new to Strava.  I'm having trouble with Strava syncing (yes, I've tried the reconnecting accounts fix), so have some basic questions:

1.  When I go for a run, I take my phone (running Strava app) and my Fitbit.  Should I leave the Fitbit at home instead?

2.  How long should it take for data to sync?  I assume it shouldn't take days?

3.  There seems to be some confusion about whether old data will sync across... will it?  If so, how far back will it go?

Edit... a run from today has just popped up, which is good news!  Nothing prior though.

Thanks Eric,

I know those are the issues and that on solution is to use the GPS in the Fitbit app.... I just prefer the Strava display etc when running or Biking and would in the long term love to have the HR data export back to Strava if I record an activity using Strava... Long shot I guess but as I use both devices due to endorsement via parkrun it would be great to have the 2 sponsors devices talking to each other

This is getting very annoying now, none of my activities from the 26/10 onwards have shown up on strava, despite following all the recommended actions of resetting everytthing and reconnecting, please can someone give some advice as to when this will be sorted. My OH has exactly the same device (surge) bought at same time, and her data shows perfectly in strava WTF is going on??

Erick, I have had two syncs where manual entries into Strava have synced with Fitbit between Oct 3rd and today.  I had previous rides in Strava done Sunday the 25th at 9:40AM but that has not synced to Fitbit, nor any of the rides (manual or real) between Oct 3rd and Oct 25th.

I have not done another real ride (not manual) since the two manual entered rides.  Plus I only plan on doing syncing from Strava to Fitbit.  I am like others in that I would prefer if Fitbit-Strava integration would pass GPS information from Strava to Fitbit rather than the other way around.
