why the windows 8 app (x86 or RT) can't sync data directly if the computer has BT 4.0? i don't understand why i must use the dongle to sync data....i've Win8, i've the Modern App and my pc has BT 4.
when you think to improve this feature? i hope that the future WP app will support also the Call Incoming for Force model.

The software was written to use the dongle (including a system level driver) and the Std BT may not provide the interface to BLE - which is the mode of BT used by fitbit. Plus, many people don't have BT4 HW in their PC, and would still use the dongle.
I wouldn't hold my breath on WP being suported in the near future, as there have been rumors of that (outside of fitbit), and there has been zero mention of it by fitbit, no call for beta testers, etc.
The last round of Andriod devices was well known on the fitbit site for a year, and the beta ran for months before it because the public version. The over all market base for the WP is small, (like the blackberry).

Hi there,
When fitbit will launch update for incoming call and sms notification for Fitbit Force? I can not wait to get the update.

Notifcation will be only on the force, and only with iPhones, and the last word was sometime in Feb.

windows phone has a low market share? where? not in Italy....and not in the rest of Europe. exclude WP from your support is a big error.
android and iphone use BT to take data from force/flex....so you can do the same to the windows version (maybe with a check if there's a BT 4 compatible).
so....i understand that i must wait
cheers

In the US, WPs just topped Blackberry in sales a few months ago. And Blackberry is pretty close to shutting down due to how poorly it's doing. WPs have something like 3% of the market, with Andriod devices on top, followed by IOS.

@S_Net Check out the ideas forum and vote up some of the ones that address BT 4.0 Sync for computers/latops/tablets:

Ideally, all these ideas would be merged together, so the votes aren't spread across multiple items...

3%?
4.7% (US) in november 2013 but your products are not only available in US but also in others country. but if we want exclude WP for one second, and we want talk about market share, the question is why i can' sync my flex/force with my computer (BT 4) without the dongle.

Simple. The fitbit software for a PC only works with a dongle. That BLE thing.... And not every PC has BT 4.0 HW, and fitbit would still need to provide a dongle with every tracker.
