What does the integration between Fitbit and Fitstar do?

Hi

Can anyone tell me exactly what this integration between Fitbit and Fitstar does?

I read about it and decided to make a Fitstar profile. I logged into it by using my Fitbit profile. I checked under services in both apps that they are allowed info from each other. I have now completed four excercises in Fitstar but nothing shows up in my Fitbit dashboard. Am I supposed to manually sync each Fitstar workout somewhere, after I complete them?

I am using a Charge HR by the way. Before each workout I manually started a workout on the Charge HR. Could this be the reason for my problems?

Any help will be much appreciated.

I have the same problem. I have never manually started the workout on my Charge HR. None of my fitstar workouts are transferring over. Did you solve this problem?

FitStar support worked on it for more than a month before pointing me to an obscure webpage with exact directions on how to fix it.  Sorry, I don't have the link, and I have no idea how to find the page, but here's what worked.

You need to create an account in FitStar, not just log in through FitBit.  Once you've logged on with your email account, disconnect everything in settings on both FitBit and FitStar.  Then log in to FitStar again (ok to log in through FitBit this time), and it should work.

Hope this helps!

When you created a new account were you able to keep your previous workout data?

Odd that if you login through FitBit you can't connect to FitBit...

Thanks, I did try this and tried revoking access and logging out and logging in as a different user and no matter what I do, I cannot "un connect" fitstar from fitbit. When I tried to connect using an email account, it just says that this account is already connected to fitbit, even though I have revoked access on the fitbit side, signed out, etc. Fitstar will simply not "unconnect" from fitbit. There is not even an option for it. Anyway, I've spent enough time on this, and short of making a whole new fitbit account and losing all my fitbit data, I can't think of what would work. So, I give up.

That was my take on the whole thing.  After trying everything to get it to work for more time than I should have, i've just given up and consider this to not be integrated.

Sorry to hear that.  I would submit a support ticket to FitStar.  It took more than a month for them to get my problem resolved, but their CSR stayed with me and got it working.  Replies took a little time, but he never forgot me.

Please read below, I added ALL CAPS to what I added to Fitbits suggested remedy as this is what worked for me and I used existing email and did not lose any data!

For us to help you with this, kindly disconnect and reconnect FitStar and Fitbit by going to app.fitstar.com and logging into your account.

To relink the account you created by registering with Fitbit and link it to your main account, complete these steps:

1. Go to app.fitstar.com and log in to your FitStar account with the option to login with Fitbit.

2. Click the menu icon in the top right corner, and choose Settings.

3. Click "Email and Password" and add an email address and password to your account.   [OR IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS ENTERED JUST LEAVE IT] Please note that the email address you use must be different from any other email address you’ve used for an existing FitStar account. [NOT TRUE IN MY CASE AS I ONLY HAVE ONE EMAIL ADDRESS AND I HAD ALREADY PREVIOUSLY ENTERED IT WHEN LOGGING IN THROUGH FITBIT AND LEFT THIS EMAIL ADDRESS HERE AND JUST DID ALL THE ABOVE AND THEN LOGGED IN THROUGH FITSTAR INSTEAD OF THROUGH FITBIT. IT DID NOT SEEM TO BE IMMEDIATE IN WORKING; HOWEVER I KNOW THE VERY NEXT EVENING I DID 4 WORKOUTS AND ALL OF THEM SYNCED AND LOGGED TO FITBIT.]

4. Next, click "Services" and disconnect Fitbit.

In addition to that, please be advise that disconnecting and reconnecting will not sync their past history but should insure that any future sessions sync correctly. [THIS IS NOT TRUE EITHER; IF YOU KEEP YOUR EXISTING EMAIL ADDRESS AS I DID YOU KEEP ALL YOUR EXISTING DATA!!!     YAY!!!   AWESOME!!!]

You'll now be able to link your main FitStar account to your Fitbit. Let us know if you have any further questions.  [THANK YOU FITSTAR FOR STICKING WITH ME ON THIS ISSUE!]

What finally worked for me was not signing it with FitBit.  I created an account with my email and a password.  Then I revoked access and re-linked through the account.  It finally worked.

I use a Fitbit Alta and MyFitnessPal.  I kept having problems and so did something similar to the solution in this article (separate account).  The main point was to unlink Fitbit and FitStar.  I then created a separate FitStar login and didn't integrate with Fitbit.  Fitbit and MyFitnessPal are integrated and I connected FitStar to MyFitnessPal.  This way, MyFitnessPal has the whole picture/fitness log and notes (via Food and Exercise notes in that app) and FitStar workouts are logged to MyFitnessPal.  The Alta doesn't help out FitStar but I can live with that.  The active minutes are updated in Fitbit via the MyFitnessPal integration and FitBit is counting steps only (as I use Strava for other workouts; Strava syncs with Fitbit and provides the active minutes to Fitbit but not the steps; which is fine).  I now have the overall solution I wanted (one place for all workouts and food logs aka MyFitnessPal) and no double-counting of workouts (I don't wear the Fitbit while doing FitStar workouts just to be sure 🙂 ).

I found that when I started using Fitstar I used it first thing in the morning before I had ever opened or sync'd my Fitbit. This resulted in it not registering the exercise and I entered it manually with my fitness pal to try to integrate the data.

However when I open my Fitbit first or leave the app open on my phone while I do the Fitstar session(s) it logs them automatically.

This may not be the fix for you but it seemed to work for me.
