Just wondering what everyone uses to track food intake. I heard My Fitness Pal was a good one to sync. Does this through off anything in the fitbit account??

Is there a bar code scanner on the SP?

Personally, I like loseit. It has a barcode scanner and an excellent food database. Myfitnesspal is another very popular option as well.

I love myfitnesspal  and it has a barcode scanner and it seems like absolutely every food in existance is in their database, I even found the gingerbread house my kids made from a kit,  grass fed beef,  free range eggs, and a host of other items that are crazy hard to find in any other database.   It imports to fitbit and fitbit imports to it.  I mostly use MFP but the fitbit really opened my eyes to how sedentary my job is and helped me move more.

SparkPeople also has a barcode scanner and large data base. I like it because it really is an all inclusive website - tracking, how to videos, recipes, forums, blogs, and motivational stories and support.

. I just received my Fitbit One, but have been a long-time user of MFP. I've been browsing through info here and on the MyFitnessPal forums. It looks like if you log in your food with MFP it will throw off the food you log into the Fitbit. So either or. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm just starting out!

You log in MFP and ONLY in MFP MFP imports to fitbit as "meal from myfitnesspal" so your myfitnesspal data is more detailed on food, but you do get the correct calories in vs calories out on fitbit.   If you enter food in fitbit and MFP it goes in twice.

but MFP has an amazingly complete database and a bar code scanner on the phone app, so it's also way easeir to log food there.

I've been using MyFitnessPal but think we will be parting ways as I have increasing trouble getting it to sync with my Fitbit. I log my food and Fitbit takes into account but not MFP nor my steps and if I manually enter them on MFP, well they both get confused. I'm a sucker cause I would pay $2 if it worked ALL the time.

according to MFP you're not supposed to enter anything into fitbit onlly MFP it's working absoutely fine for me.  Their database is huge, they have a bar code scanner and it imports seamlessly to fitbit

I do all my meal planning on eatthismuch.com then I enter the total calories for the day into my fitbit app so I can monitor my calorie deficit.
