Autorecognize Exercise Versa 4

I just started using the Versa 4. The Versa 3 automatically tracked and recorded my hikes -- I didn't have to do a thing. The Versa 4 requires my intervention to press Go after Autorecognize kicks in and end the exercise when I'm done. During the exercise period, I don't have access to the clock face, and notifications (messages, email, etc.) are disabled. Is there a way to make the Versa 4 auto-record exercise like the Versa 3 did?

Hello @DavidinVA64 and welcome to the Community.  Your Versa 4 has a new feature that isn't on your Versa 3.  It is an Auto-Detect feature that can start the Exercise app for three exercises, namely walk, run and bike.  (Actually, your Versa 3 has it for the run shortcut).  I suspect your hikes are setting off the Walk Detect.  Here is how to turn this off.  Short press the button to go to your apps and choose the Exercise app > Walk > swipe up on the tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen > look for Walk detect and toggle it off.  Your Versa 4 has SmartTrack, the auto-recognition feature.  It should automatically track your hikes just like your Versa 3 did.

As you noticed, the screen navigation is very different in the Versa 4.  When you swipe left/right on the screen, you are swiping between screen tiles.  When you swipe to a screen that has three exercise shortcuts in circle, you are looking at the Exercise tile.  Those three at the top are Quick Start shortcuts to your last three exercises that you may have used in the Exercise app.  These Quick Start shortcuts don't let you set a goal or change any of the settings.  Don't use them if you need to change any settings.

Hello LZeeW, many heartfelt thanx for your reply! I disabled the Walk Detect feature according to your instructions. Tomorrow morning I'll see if SmartTrack records my hike in the manner I'd become accustomed to with Versa 3. 😎
