Can't access settings on watch; clock error; won't sync; rebooting watch does nothing

My wife got me the Versa 4 a month ago to replace my Versa 3.  The GPS mapping was never correct... every thing displayed a straight line and an endless incline, even when I was doing laps around the track.  All my hikes were incorrect, etc.  Then there were issues with watch and phone failing to sync... I'd have to resort to rebooting both phone and watch before they would complete the sync up again.  I would need to do this at least once per day or even more often... very irritating.  In an effort to try and fix these issues I decided to do a factory reset.  Big mistake!!!  Right after the reset it never went into the language selection screen as it should have.  Instead it just gave me a clock error... tells me to go into my app and try another clock.  So when I go into my phone app it won't allow me to choose a clock face or install...Select is greyed out for the default clock face and any optional clock faces won't install (load).  Of course I realize I would also need to Bluetooth pair my watch and phone however the settings (gear) icon won't function.  I've tried accessing it on my watch through a couple different ways and neither gear icon functions at all... therefore I cannot even attempt a second factory reset of the watch.  As far as trying a simple watch reboot, it doesn't matter how many times I reboot the watch, it ends up on the same clock error message and the setting (gear) icon continues to remain non-functional after the reboots.  So I'm stuck.  Any ideas on how get my watch working again?  Anyone else have a similar issue after doing a factory reset? I've been at this for hours and have about reached my frustration limit... please someone help me.
