Phone app today screen gear icon (top right) > Activity & Wellness > Exercise > Stride Length

Not a function of which model; phone app has changed.

Hi there, @Malkie69. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and for the details provided in your post. We're here to help!

In addition to the steps provided by @JohnnyRow, I'd recommend checking this help article for more information How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

@JohnnyRow Maybe it's different for iOS vs Android, because when I follow your steps, I don't have the Stride Length option. Activity & Wellness > Exercise just brings me to the auto recognized exercises.

I could only update my stride length via the web dashboard. I couldn't find this option on the iOS app.

Thanks for your input. I could vary length of stride on other Fitbit models but don’t seem to be an option with my Versa 3!

Seems like I've seen it another place, too. I'll look around.

Phone app; Activity - Exercise days > 3 vertical menu at top right > Activity settings  takes me to same screen with Stride Length at top.  Is Stride Length missing for iOS there too?

@JohnnyRow Those options don’t exist on iOS unfortunately.

@JohnnyRow I spoke too soon. That screen shot in my post above looks like nothing else is there. There is a large gap at the bottom of the screen, but if I scroll down, the stride length setting is way at the bottom. But just looking at the initial screen shot you wouldn't even know there were other options at the bottom.

@Heather-S  That looks messed up; just tossed in between voice cues and pool length.
But I think the only way Android can get those voice cues is actually starting workout from phone app (run, walk, hike) rather than Exercise App on wrist.

@Malkie69   Your stride length is an app setting.  It doesn't matter which Fitbit is on your account.  It shouldn't change because you updated to a Versa 4.  Why do you think you need to change it?

Hi.It just seems to register more steps than what I actually do.

@Malkie69   I might have a better fix for you if your Fitbit is over counting your steps.  Most of us wear our Fitbits on our non-dominant wrist.  If you change the setting to dominant (but keep wearing it on your non-dominant), you will change the accelerometer sensitivity.  This can reduce, but not eliminate extra steps.

Your programmed stride length is an average stride length for level walking.  We take many different kinds of steps that are longer or shorter than during level walking.  Most users don't need to adjust their stride length, unless they have physical limitations.

Also, stride length has no effect on counting number on steps.  it is used just to convert step count to mileage.
