Can't open text messages on my Versa 4

My Versa 4 is connected to my Google Pixel 5.  When I get a text, the Versa vibrates and I see a red "message plus" notification.  However, tapping on the notification does not "open" the message, therefore I can see that I HAVE a message, but cannot read it.  Helpfully, the auto-replies are available, but sort of useless if I can't actually READ the incoming message.  Ideas?

Hi @SunsetRunner  - try a watch and phone restart.

You can't necessarily read the whole message on the watch, only the notification. 

If the message is long it has to be read on the phone.

Hey, thanks for the note. The problem is I can see the notifications but I
don't see a way to "open" the message. Even a simple message like "hello"
can't be read because if I scroll or tap on the message notification,
nothing happens except the notification goes away. How do I open the
message?
