Welcome to the Fitbit community, @SunsetRunner!
Please note that your Versa 4 can be switched to Google Wallet for mobile payment. Regarding this you might have a look here for banks that are supporting Google Wallet:

No, @SunsetRunner, you don't have to use an Android device to use Google Wallet with your Versa 4. But you need a Google account to do so.
You might have a closer look here on how to set up Google Wallet for your Versa 4:

You only need the current Fitbit app on your iPhone to use Google Wallet with your Versa 4, @SunsetRunner. I'd like to point out that your iPhone must be running iOS 15 or higher to do so.
Then please follow these steps to set up Google Wallet on your Versa 4:
1.) With your Fitbit device nearby, open the Fitbit app on your phone.
2.) Tap your profile picture in the upper left corner of the Today page.
3.) Tap Versa 4.
4.) Tap the Google Wallet tile and then New credit or debit card.
5.) Scan your card with your phone’s camera or enter the card details manually.
6.) Add your card’s 3-digit security code.
7.) Choose a method for your bank to verify your identity. You may have the option to have a code sent by text, email, phone call or other methods.
8.) Enter the verification code.
Notice that you have to set up a 4-digit security code for mobile payment with your Versa 4 if you not already have done that.
