Fitbit app is sissing exercise calories

I know there are dozens of threads on solving similar problems, but I've tried everything that I could think to do, and was hoping there might be someone who's solved this specific issue (since syncing data in general is a widespread problem, but the the actual data that is/is not synced is not identical among users).

Over and over again, the app refuses to add my exercise calories to my calories burned. For example, it's currently 3:00p (that is, 15 hours into the day) and the app is currently showing a burn of 1,625. This is about right for a rest day as my BMR runs around 100/hour. But it isn't a rest day; I burned nearly 650 calories at the gym this morning, and so it should be showing closer to a 2,300 burn. The odd thing is that the app 'sees' my exercises - in this case, elliptical and strength training - and I can even see how many calories I burned during each, but the app simply refuses to incorporate those calories into my total burned for the day.

This has happened before - many, many times - and is sometimes resolved by powering off/on the Versa 4 and/or my iPhone. Sometimes it resolves itself randomly in the middle of the day. However, it no longer is resolving and I've tried just about everything: resetting the Versa, forgetting the Bluetooth connection and restoring it, powering off/on the iPhone, deleting the app and data then reinstalling the app. Nothing works.

Like many of you, I rely on the app to tell me if I'm eating the right number of calories. On a day where I burn 650 at the gym, I can expect to burn 3,300 to 3,500 depending on how active I am during the rest of the day - thus allowing me to eat 2,100 to 2,300 and stay on-target. But if I can't rely on this data to be accurate, what's the point? Any solutions out there??

Hi @AlanS_CA - did you check in the Fitbit App device page (Connected to) that the only device connected to your account is the Versa 4?

If you are collecting information from other devices such as a phone it may not be able register calories correctly because it cant measure HR which should be missing in the app also.

Hi there, @AlanS_CA. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your calories are still not adding up after syncing. I understand where your concern is coming from, we're here to help you!

I was wondering the same as @Guy_. Do you have another device or app connected to your Fitbit app?

Also, I'd like to know if you might be manually logging your exercises? If this describes your issue, please note your data will be recalculated if you manually log an activity as the manually logged activity takes precedence over the data that was tracked while wearing your Fitbit device at that point in time. For example, if I am wearing my Fitbit device and walking I reach 100 calories burned, then I go to the Fitbit app and manually log an activity that starts and ends at that point in time for say 1 hour, Fitbit will calculate how many calories I've burned and it may bring my calorie count to something below 100.

Thank you both for replying, and attempting to help narrow down the problem. No, I don't have any other devices connected to the Fitbit app; I can see why that would cause issues, but I have confirmed only the Versa4 is connected to the app.

I'm also not manually logging the exercise: that is, I start the exercise on the watch (Start Exercise --> Elliptical or --> Strength Training) and the activity is tracked. I can even see, in the app after syncing, the calories that the activity burned. It's just not adding them to the day's total -- or at least some of the time. Most of the time, the app eventually incorporates those calories, but it's often hours later. Sometimes, never.
