Google wallet on Versa 4

I've just bought a Versa 4, principally so I can use Google Wallet, a heavily advertised feature... that doesn't appear to work. 

I probably should have looked in here first. There are lots of posts here about Google wallet not working on the Versa 4, from about a year ago. Has there been any progress since then? Does it work and I'm doing something wrong? Are fitbit actually doing anything about it?

I have two cards in my Google wallet, from two different banks in two different countries, neither can be added to Google wallet on my Versa 4.

Same issue here.  I actually looked up the Versa 4 manual before making the purchase since using Google Pay is the main purpose of buying a smartwatch, but unfortunately I cannot get my cards in Google wallet added to Versa 4.

I can get the pay function to work but wanted to use my gym membership card which I can from my phone

I also bought it for Google wallet. Was hoping to use for gym entrance, but gym card is under loyalty card not payment.
