I recently switched from a Charge 2 to a Versa 4. The guided breathing on the charge 2 worked like a charm, but on the versa 4 I have never succeeded in getting the circle purple. Is there a sensor associated with this that could be broken? Could I be wearing it wrong? I do get the "alignment low" message at the end, but I'll even watch the screen to try and time it perfectly.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @seil1234!
After my experiences it really is hard to get a purple circle animation while doing those breathing exercises with the Versa 4. I sometimes get to that point whenever I'm focusing on the animation itself instead on the way I'm breathing during the exercise and also when I'm not doing exaggerated deep breathing.
But after a few seconds the circle falls back to blue-greenish for me.
So Versa 4 seems to evaluate breathing exercises very critically which doesn't have to be a negative point.
