My older (about 3 years) versa 4 was acting funky and I thought I had lost many of the functions after pool swimming.

i went out and purchased the very same model Versa 4 and in the meantime my old Versa 4 began working again - how do I activate my new Versa 4 and deactivate my older Versa 4

Hello @Danielbtotten and welcome to the Community.  First, sync the older Versa 4 to your Fitbit account.  In your case I recommend removing the current Versa 4.  Tap on your device/battery icon on your Fitbit app, then your Versa 4 tile.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap on Remove this Versa 4.  Remove that Versa 4 from the Bluetooth list on your phone settings.  Go back to the page that lists your 'Connected to Fitbit ' devices on your Fitbit app and tap on the Add more devices.  The rest of the setup should be self-explanatory.

In most cases, users aren't replacing with the same device.  The app will remove the current device in order to add the new device.  But your Bluetooth list will show two Versa 4s and you would need to forget the correct one.
