Latest Versa 4 Firmware Update after 194.86

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Is anyone running a more recent firmware than 194.86?

To check, pull down on the watch face, tap settings, scroll near the bottom, tap on About Versa 4 and then System info.

A version 184.61 appeared but seems to have been withdrawn.

Other versions such as 207.52 and 207.87 have been mentioned but may only be test versions.

Hi,

My Versa 4 is on 61.20001.207.87, since late january.
Fitbit Android app is the latest available to me; version 4.18-something. (Pixel 7 Pro)

207.87 has a Youtube Music app and tile, though I have uninstalled and never tested it, and a "triple tap to zoom" feature. I don't know if the screen zooming-thing is a new feature in this firmware, but I didn't notice it in earlier versions.

Apart from these two features, I have not noticed any new bugs or bugfixes vs older firmwares.

I have a few issues with the watch, but I don't know if they're related to this firmware:
- Once or twice when starting an exercise the clock has crashed/restarted and I've had to restart the exercise.
I've been thinking it could be a bluetooth/assisted GPS issue or something, but I don't know that for sure of course.

- Installing clock faces takes a looooooong time, compared to my experiences with Versa 1 and 3.
The watch shows a progress bar, then it loses connection to my phone ("Could not connecto to Device" error in the Fitbit app) and freezes for 3-4 minutes before the newly installed clock face pops up on the display and everything is 'back to normal'.

Apart from this (...and the missing Spotify app, and that Google is about to remove support for third party clock faces here in Europe... 😕 ) I have no noteworthy issues with the watch. Syncing the Versa 4 has never been an issue that I can remember, except a few times when Fitbit has had known server issues.

🙂

I have the 194.86 version.   I don't know how to check for a firmware update.  My Versa 4 keeps restarting and I lose my alarms. Alexa becomes disconnected from my Versa 4 several times a day, and then I have to go into that phone app to reconnect.  If there is a firmware update to resolve these annoying issues, I certainly would like to install it. Thanks.

Hi @Trying_Hard - the experience you are having isn't related to the firmware version. If a later version becomes available for your watch you will be prompted in the app to install it. [I have the same version as you, announced November 2023].

It is not uncommon for the Fitbit App to lose connection with the watch and then Alexa won't work. There may be things to adjust on your phone - see also Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If your watch keeps restarting try changing clock face to a Fitbit one first but it could also be due to a watch fault, and other strange things may also be happening if it is.

Hi Guy, thank you for your suggestions.  I have been using a Fitbit clock face all along. I have changed it to another Fitbit clock face and changed it back since there are very few clock faces that I like. I overslept 2 thouses this morning  because,  once again  all my alarms deleted themselves and Alexa disconnected from my watch.  I'm about ready to give up and buy a differ fitness tracker.  Thank you,  Trying Hard

@Trying_Hard - thanks, did you try setting the alarms on the watch itself?

Hi Guy, the only way that I can set alarms on the Versa 4 is on the watch.  I double-checked today, thinking I could set them on the app, but for this version of Fitbit, not possible to use the app for alarms.  So I set alarms on my watch, then I use Alexa to set reminders, as a back-up to alarms.  So, when alarms are deleted by a bug in the Fitbit software, and my Fitbit loses connection with Alexa on my phone, my two methods for silent alarm clocks fails.  It seems that Alexa disconnects when my Fitbit alarms disappear.  There are a lot of mornings that Alexa is still connected to my Fitbit.  I'm looking at other smart watch manufacturers.  I've used Fitbit for years, but there seem to be issues with all of them.  This issue with the Versa 4 restarting and deleting alarms, and the watch faces on an earlier type of Fitbit kept breaking where the watch band attached.  In the meantime, I guess I have to set my alarm clock to have a reliable way to wake up.  Sigh.
