I Have yet to transfer my account to Google. What is the opinion of others, more efficient or not.

Hi @Ninjagranny - there is no obligation to change [till 2025] and things may work differently, or not at all for some functions. You may need to re setup things as well to use the new account. Once done you can't go back. There is no benefit to make the change,

I did it a month ago. I don’t understand the hesitation from people on these message boards. Fitbit is Google now. Fitbit the separate company no longer exists. Meaning that Fitbit IS Google. There is no reason to wait. I use my Fitbit on an iPhone, moved my account to Goggle, and everything works great. You will be forced to move your account at a point in the future anyway, so why wait? Jump on board and get your account on the main company who is running Fitbit. That’s Google. There really is no reason to wait. Hope that helps. Just my opinion.

Hi @JonDavidL - other people have experienced problems changing account and it depends on your exact situation what are the effects.

Google committed to not touching/using the Fitbit data but once you change to a Google account that commitment presumably ends.

So it's good for people to know about the issues but in your case it seems there were no  complications you are aware of.

I hear where you are coming from. I guess my overall, big picture point, is that Fitbit, as a company, no longer exists. That company is now 100% Google (though the brand is still called Fitbit). So if you aren't interested in transferring your account, then there is no reason to keep using your Fitbit device. The end is nearing. Why wait until 2025? Transfer your account now and see if you like it, because come 2025 you will have no choice. There is no use fighting it, you will eventually need to do it.  If you don't want to, then I guess it is time to start looking at Garmin or something like that. For me, I'm all onboard. Google IS Fitbit and without the big money of Google, Fitbit would have ceased to exist a few years ago. I am very glad Google stepped up and saved Fitbit from going the way of Pebble. My two cents.

I’m with @JonDavidL  on this issue.  There is a benefit if you use a Nest thermostat or a Ring doorbell, like I do.  Google released this article in The Keyword.  As for privacy, I think it’s a little irresponsible for you to write that Google’s commitment to not touching data presumably ends with the change.
@Ninjagranny   If you have Fitbit friends who haven’t migrated, you might want to wait, so you can see your friends.  There certainly are reasons to migrate.  I don’t think the Best Answer check is warranted.

If you put your Fitbit on your ankle when you ride your spin bike, then you just don’t get it.
