Hi there, @Johamm. Welcome to the Community Forums. @SunsetRunner Thank you so much for your help!
While reading your post I was wondering if you just got your Versa 4 and are setting up the notifications for the first time? If so, please note you'll need to receive a message from the app desired in order for your app to show it as option in your Fitbit notification's section. For example, tell someone to send a WhatsApp, then check your Fitbit app and you'll see that WhatsApp is already an option to be selected.
As for the text, please note that you can choose 1 app per category. The most common apps for these features are:
However, for "Text Messages" section you can only select your primary text messaging app (that can be WhatsApp, your phone's default Message app or any other). Nevertheless, in "App Notifications" section you can select more apps, for example if you decided that for your primary text messaging app you want it to be WhatsApp, in App Notifications you can enable Messages app.
For more information, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
Hope this helps.

Hello there, @ksalt. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums. I understand where your concern is coming from and how you must be feeling.
While reading your posts above, I was wondering if you did remove your old Versa 2 from your Fitbit account and phone's Bluetooth settings?
It seems that your Versa 4 cannot connect properly to your Fitbit app since you haven't yet forgotten the connection between your old watch and the phone's Bluetooth which would explain the connectivity issues you're running into. With that said, try the steps below:
Hope that helps.

Probably a silly question, but you have not by chance set it to “do not disturb” or sleep mode? Also wondering if alarms or timers vibrate the watch.

@ksalt what phone do you have?
Did you give fitbit peemision to run in the background?
Is your phone in DND or the notification volume turned off?

No, I’ve checked. It’s not on do not disturb.
I really just switched from a Versa 2 that was connecting to a Versa 4. I have removed all the devices, the app, from the phone and repaired. Then double checked that all the notifications are on, but nothing.
---------
Recieved 1 text message in 2 weeks of owning this watch and no phone notifications. I have it set up correctly. I'm very disappointed.

It works fine for me and complaints about notifications are few, so there is something off in your setup with the Versa 4, or the Versa 4 itself is the issue. Given that one message was received, it is definitely strange.
The watch syncs to the phone, so Bluetooth is working. You received a message, so it does work. I assume everything is running the latest version of IOS, Fitbit App, and the watch was updated to the latest, so it is not the software.
Definitely a poser. One thing to consider is removing it from the Fitbit app, deleting the Fitbit app, factory reset watch, deleting the phone from the Bluetooth known devices on the phone, rebooting the phone, reinstalling the Fitbit app, re-pairing the watch, and trying again. Make sure that “Share System Notifications” is checked in the phones Bluetooth for the watch.
Gotta be frustrating, but we know it does work so there is something we are missing.

I have received maybe two notifications to my Fitbit that I have a text message, in the last 24 hours. Most app notifications are also inconsistent. My Versa 2 rarely had any issues. I’ve noticed that if I restart my phone I will often get a bunch of notifications after the restart. That never happened with my Versa 2.

@whitbyterry “I’ve noticed that if I restart my phone I will often get a bunch of notifications after the restart”
That’s interesting as it means the phone can send notifications to the V4. Quite possibly they are queued up for transmission from the phone but not getting sent to the watch until the phone reboots. Which could mean the phone to V4 (and vice-versa) Bluetooth link is inconsistent, or the phone or watch system service that sends/receives messages is not allowing them to pass through for some reason.
I hope someone who is experiencing this has reported it and the FItbit support team can escalate this to 2nd or 3rd tier support as it may be a clue into a number of issues reported.

So you are saying that the issue is that the phone stop sending notifications.
Have you checked the forums for your phones?
I hope you do not force close your fitbit app.
BTW on android, you should not be swiping any app out of memory. Android has a very robust program manager and swiping apps out waists time and battery

The issue is not that the phone doesn’t send the notifications. The issue is that the Versa 4 isn’t processing them. They get stuck until you restart your phone. I have the exact same phone that I used with my Versa 2 and have had no issues with notifications. I rarely force close the Fitbit application.

Exactly, the get professed and put in the buffer. The restart of the phone, re-established the connection and the notification can be sent.
If they where stuck in the Versa 4, you would be restarting the Versa 4, not the phone.
You might find restarting the Versa 4 would also work.
However next time it happans, check the BT status of the Versa 4. However the Versa 4 should say that connection was lost.

I just received a text message. Versa 4 displayed nothing. My phone shows Connected on the Bluetooth page and when I went into the FitBit app, the sync occurred with no issues.

I am also experiencing the same. Have done all steps including wiping and resetting. Never had issues with versa 2 and this new watch is trying my patience
