I’ve checked that all the correct settings are on, on my Fitbit versa 4 as well as my iPhone and I’ve also done a factory reset and all the troubleshooting that I’ve seen in the forum and I’m still unable to receive texts through my fit bit. Anyone else having the same problem? I’ve owned my fit bit for three days and I’ve tried everything.

Hi @Bigred95 - start by pulling down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off all the icons.
Check the Fitbit App is running in background and is syncing, as if not you won't get notifications.
Notifications, as opposed to message texts, though they can be same if they are short, are what pop up in the phone's status bar and need to be configured to appear on the watch.

If the steps recommended by @Guy_ don't work, may I know if you're using an iOS device and if the text messages you're referring to are iMessages? If this describes your issue, please note that I had a similar trouble with those messages. However, the way I fixed it was by trying to toggle the iMessage setting; general > Messages > iMessage and verified the "Show Previews" was on "Always". All good with my text messages now.
