Versa 3 bands are not interchangeable with Versa 4

Recently upgraded from versa 3 to the newer versa 4 because I was under the impression my versa 3 bands would fit on my versa 4, but they do not. Not even remotely and I’m frustrated because if I have to replace the bands altogether, I’d prefer getting a Samsung smartwatch. On the Fitbit accessories site, they have bands for sale indicated that they will fit both versa 3/4, but they Do Not. I’m very frustrated, yet glad I realized this within my first day of purchase.

Sad to hear that you're having issues with bands for your Versa 4. As long as you're using genuine Fitbit bands they indeed are compatible with Sense 2, Sense, Versa 4 & Versa 3:

Is the band that comes with versa 4 an infinity band?

Yes, Versa 4 comes with an Infinity band in both sizes per default. It's this one:

You might want to have look at the Sport band as a more breathable alternative:

Some are and some aren’t.  I recently changed from Versa 3 and sense to two Versa 4s…my band fit fine…hers didn’t.  When I looked at her band closely I saw there was a ridge on it that fit the contour of the Versa 3/ sense.  The bands that don’t have this ridge fit fine.  I use a steel mesh band I bought from Amazon that I really like.
