Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

7/13 Update: We’re continuing to roll out this firmware for the Versa 4 Firmware Update 194.61, and expect more customers are able to update their devices. This is a progressive rollout and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We release updates in phases so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!

We’re excited to announce that a firmware update version 194.61 for Versa 4 will be available soon! Some of you might already have this update available. If you installed it, let us know what you think!

We release updates to customers in phases. If you don’t see it, check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

The speech to text is due to the Google migration. Until they fix it on the back end it won't work. My solution was creating an entire new account with a non-gmail address on the Fitbit website. And deleting my Google account from Fitbit. Now that I'm back on a Fitbit account everything works again. This is got to be very embarrassing for Fitbit and Google. As anybody that migrates to Google loses functionality on their device. Not to mention the new update which is bricking devices. Unbelievable

Ever since the update my watch has essentially been worthless. It no longer connects to update in the app and I have to restart the watch to get it to work. The time is now several minutes off almost regularly until I’m able to sync (which isn’t at all anymore). I’m super frustrated with the inability to use my watch for almost anything. I’ve never been please with the versa 4 anyway and this makes me hate it completely. Please put my watch back to the way it was so it will actually work.

If you do a factory reset, it will only reinstall the firmware before the update. Then just do not update it. You can get it back to the way it was. All your data will still be saved. Remove the device and factory reset.

I had the same issue on my Versa 4.  I did a factory reset on mine it works as it should. DO NOT INSTALL UPDATE 194.61!!!  After the factory reset it should be on 184.52. Mine asked to update after the reset and it installed 184.52. Hope this helps.

I have 184.52 and the voice to text still doesn't work

The Versa 4 Firmware 194.61 prompts an update every day, but the update fails at around 30% with a red cross. The operating system is now closed - have you really tested it? The SpO2 function always shows 'unable to read' despite detecting. Google Pay doesn't work after installation - it always pops up a connection error during authentication. You've removed the music app, but why can't the watch control the Android phone's music playback function? This was available in the previous generation. Your official website advertises the Versa 4 as a smartwatch. I'm curious, how smart is it really?

I updated my Versa 4 7/15 and I absolutely hate this update. Battery life is now 1/2 of the device before the update. For example, I charged it to 100% 7/17, and as of today (7/20), it was 40%. Having to charge this device every 3-4 days is why I upgraded from my old charge 3 to the versa 4 in the first place. I checked all my settings and they’re exactly the same as before the update. This update also makes it nearly impossible to sync the device. I’ve tried troubleshooting it as previously suggested with no long term fix. Thanks to this forum, I finally factory reset my Versa 4 and got back to the previous firmware version. Hopefully this fixed the issues with battery life & syncing but I will not be updating my Versa 4 without looking into the update again.

Hi are you saying that the speach to text feature is now working? Because I e done the factory reset and I get the same response transcription error. Tech support had me return for a new watch and after setting up I have the 184 version and I still get transcription error.

No. The reset to factory settings allows my phone to sync. I have not gotten any further than that.

With all these issues being reported Fitbit really needs to stop this rollout. No way in hell am I going to install it. Already have enough syncing issues as is.

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for your continued reports. Before anything else, let me inform you that our team is aware of the Versa 4 not syncing correctly after updating the firmware update, and they're working to identify a solution as soon as possible.

In regards to the transcription error displayed when using voice replies, this is an issue reported prior to the update. To avoid any confusion, please subscribe to this other thread and provide your feedback in there.

@Skennedy2020@EricHL@cmc5294 and @beth89 Regarding your watch not holding charge, if you haven't done so, I'd recommend getting in touch with Support so they can evaluate this behavior and provide you with further assistance. Click here to get connected with them via chat or phone.

i reset my BRAND NEW versa 4 to factory settings and am not allowing the
update. I still have to restart my BRAND NEW versa 4 every morning so that
it syncs and i still get the BIG RED X when i restart. I contacted fitbit
via chat and was told to return/exchange my BRAND NEW versa 4. I've
attached photos of what my BRAND NEW versa 4 does when restarted.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @susankinsellaar!

Sad to hear that you're having issues with your Versa 4. I'd suggest trying to change the clock face of your device to see if this will get things fixed. Please make sure that the phone you're running the Fitbit app on and your Fitbit device stay next to each other until the installation of the new clock face is done.

How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?

I have the same issue and can't update. Could you provide any watch faces that can be updated successfully?

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Chris009!

You can chose any of the clock faces available in the gallery of your Fitbit app to see if that process will get things fixed for you.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I have already tried using the watch faces recommended by Fitbit, as well as converting three other watch faces, but I still can't update. I also tried resetting the watch to its factory settings and completely removing and re-downloading the apps, but the issue remains unresolved. Do you have any suggestions or recommended solutions for me?

I updated to 194.61 and now sync only works if I restart Bluetooth each time before opening the app. I have restarted both my Fitbit and iPhone. I also dropped and reconnected my Fitbit from Bluetooth.

Since downloading this new update, my watch will no longer show me my text message or alert previews. It just shows the name or number but no preview. I've played around with every setting I can possibly find and nothing has fixed this.

I’ve been following this since my Versa 4 updated. I turned off everything and reverted to original clock face, still gone from 100% charge late Friday to 16% today (Monday evening). Before the update had at least 6 days on a full charge.
I can’t update without turning off (I see fix is incoming).
Sleep score is intermittently working.
Had my Versa 4 since Christmas and was specifically given it and my Versa lite battery was giving up and I had to charge every 2 days…now I’m back in the same position. Need a roll back (I’m not prepared to do a factory reset!)
