Versa 4 Firmware Update 194.61

7/13 Update: We’re continuing to roll out this firmware for the Versa 4 Firmware Update 194.61, and expect more customers are able to update their devices. This is a progressive rollout and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We release updates in phases so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!


We’re excited to announce that a firmware update version 194.61 for Versa 4 will be available soon! Some of you might already have this update available. If you installed it, let us know what you think!

We release updates to customers in phases. If you don’t see it, check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

Thanks for sharing more details about your Versa 4 and the steps that you've tried. As mentioned before, our team is aware of the syncing issues experienced after the firmware update. Currently I don't have more details, but rest assured our team is working to get this resolved soon.

My Versa4 has not yet received the 194.61 update. I factory reset Versa 4 yesterday, but I still did not receive the new update. What could be the problem? I am now on firmware 184.54

I am on version 184.52. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. And it worked
for me

I have 184.52 also. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and followed all
the prompts to give permission for the microphone and Alex etc to be turned
on. Then I shut my watch and phone down and powered them back up and it
worked for me after 3 tries.

I have to restart my watch to sync EVERY time. I figured I wasn’t the only one. It’s super annoying!

ETA 8/23: I firmly believe this update killed my watch. I was sent a replacement. This new one is refurbished and is dinged up. Super annoying that now I have one that is marred and my other one was fine!

Why is there no firmware update for my new Versa? 4? I see that others here have received the update and I have been promised that I would receive it and roughly a week by help and support at Fitbit. That was now over a month ago. This is a very important issue to me as the device that I have does not function properly and I have been promised that the update will resolve these issues. Please advise.

I have no recieved the update on my Versa 4 either, I think maybe Fitbit is holding it back because of some of the issues its causing. My device is working perfectly right now so im more than happy to wait.

I had big problems with my Charge 5 after the firmware update.

Because what I read here, the Versa 4 is not much better. Thanks to all contributors to make us aware.

So, I bought a Inspire 3, that one seems to be without problems on the firmware update.

I tried the factory reset yesterday and the Update Tracker installed the 194.61. I didn’t see a way to  bypass the update. Battery drain is still a problem. My account is linked to Google…do I need to sever this connection too to get it working again?

I have the same problem. Tried fixing it but still every time I want to synch my device to the app I always have to turn Bluetooth off and then back on. Super frustrating!

In a few days the trick to turn on and off Bluetooth will not work anymore. Once a Charge 5 starts to show these symptoms it goes only downhill fast until it will not work at all anymore.

Contact customer service and request a warranty replacement and hope you are covered under warranty.

Yep, my watch just died last night. It kept restarting over and over last
night and I got the big red X. This is ridiculous.

Uh, I think it was a Christmas gift, so 9 mos? But the watch itself was
replaced the first week I used it because it died too. Clearly the quality
is just not great.

Thanks for this! I contacted support and since my device is still under warranty I am getting a replacement. Mine is only a month old so it’s super disappointing to have these issues! Happy it’s covered though.

Ever since I updated the software, my battery barely lasts 4 days and I have to cycle power in order to get the app to sync with my Fitbit.  What is going on?  I am a long term Fitbit user, even with replacing it every 12 to 18 months but this might be the end.

I just got my Fitbit Versa 4 yesterday and frankly I'm disappointed. I bought it because I was like oh cool it has google wallet... doesn't work. Oh cool it has wrist calls that will be handy... doesn't work. I'm thinking I should have just got the versa 3 and saved myself a couple of hundred dollars. And it updated when I set it up too.
