Versa 4 GPS not tracking correctly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Only in the last few months I have noticed that my versa 4 isn't tracking the distance I am walking or running when I have it in activity mode. I walked 3.5K yesterday and it said I walked 200m??  I tried to look for GPS settings on the watch and fitbit app but they have disappeared. Anyone else having this problem?

Welcome to the forums @SunsetRunner.

Thank you for providing the details regarding this difficulty with GPS on Versa 4.

If the GPS signal disconnects, your phone or Fitbit device continues to search for a signal. Note: If you previously turned off GPS for an exercise, turn it back on before you start the activity.

Nevertheless, if your device can’t connect to GPS try these tips:

  • Restart your Fitbit device.
  • Follow the recommendations for wearing your device for exercise. For more information, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?
  • Try loosening the band 1 notch.
  • Make sure your device doesn't touch your wrist bone.
  • Wait until GPS is connected to start the exercise.
  • Note that if you’re using GPS for the first time in an area, connecting to GPS satellites might take several minutes. Heavily wooded areas and tall buildings can increase the time it takes to connect to GPS satellites.
  • If GPS didn’t connect the first time, wait 5 minutes before you start the exercise again.
  • To reduce the time it takes for your device to connect to GPS satellites, hold your arm parallel to your body near your head and at least 2 inches away from you when you connect to GPS and start an exercise.

Your device uses Dynamic GPS, which means if you bring your phone with you, the smartwatch will use your phone's GPS to map your route. If your phone is not with you, it will use the built-in GPS of your Versa 4. Please take a look at the information included in this help article: How do I use GPS on my Versa 4?

I started experiencing this problem lately as well.  This was new for me as my previous walks were always tracked.  I found the problem to be that for each exercise type there is an option for GPS when appropriate.  With no changes from me my GPS was turned off for walking.  You can change this setting on your Versa 4 watch by choosing "Exercise" and then "Walk" but don't start the walk.  Simply swipe up for the walk settings.  Scroll down until you see "GPS" and turn it back on.  Worked fine for me and hope it helps you as well.

Versa 4 is CRAP , I previously had a plain Fitbit and it tracked my sleep more accurately and YES it’s set on NORMAL sensitivity, it’s just about the most frustrating device I dealt with , don’t waste your money
